Motion Work

The assignment that was given was to shoot a video of Toronto. I wanted to do more so I challenged myself to something different. I wanted to animate graffiti and make it come to life. My approach was to animate these still images around the city. While scouting the city for interesting graffiti that wouldn’t be too complicated to animate, I found four that interested me the most. The first step was to take a photo and a video of that area in the same position. Having the video of the background with the animated graffiti helped emphasize that this was a living, moving space. The animation process consisted of cutting up the images and splitting them up in Photoshop, importing the images to After Effects and animating them on top of the video layer.

The assignment given to me was to choose any letter from the alphabet and create the same letter everyday for the whole semester. I chose to do the letter E. My approach for this project was to experiment with different mediums to create a variety of outcomes. I worked with tools, toys, and existing objects that had something in them that resembled an E. The way I wanted to display all 72 E’s was in a GIF format, because it keeps people engaged in the content.
